What we do!

Apart from riding round the countryside we also have a very serious side to the club.

Each year we have a 'Charity or Charities of the Year'. Our charity this year is:

Avon Oncology Unit (St Michael's Hill)

As you may know we have been organising a charity run to Bristol and Bath Dogs and Cats Home. We are not sure how long this has been going on for but we do know that in the dim and distant past it was called the 'Christmas Cracker'. We've moved on a bit since then and in an attempt to combat the cold weather, this year we held it in March. We put collection bins out at various stores in and around Bristol (usually Pets at Home in Eastville, Filton and Brislington as well as Keynsham Pet & Garden Centre, Keynsham) and ask members of the public for donations of pet food.

Parcelforce have been supporting us for many years and we hope they continue to do so as their vans come in very handy for the pet food that is collected. We have been escorted by the Police in the past but the last couple of years we have managed on our own.

This year the weather was fantastic and there were 67 bikes on the ride, which was a fantastic turnout. Along with the 4 Parcel Force vans it made an impressive sight. We got a bit broken up going round the ringroad, but after regrouping in one of the lay-bys we made our way to Bath Cats & Dogs Home, where 2 of the vans were emptied of their loads of pet food and bedding.

After a break here to allow people to look around the animals, have some soup, etc, we then headed to Bristol Cats & Dogs home where the last 2 vans were unloaded. We then headed over to the Colosseum, Redcliffe, to finish the day.

A good time was had by all! Check out the pictures in our Gallery. Why not come and join us for our run next year?
