What we do!
Apart from riding round the countryside we also have a very serious side to the club.
Each year we have a 'Charity of the Year' and in January we hold a fund raising party night. For 2003, this was held at Seymour's Family Club, Barton Vale, and we raised £500 for the National Miscarriage Association and £500 for the Sringboard Opportunity Group. Finoa Wilson, from HTV, presented the cheques after the charity run (see below)
We also put collection bins out at various stores in and around Bristol (usually Pets at Home in Eastville, Filton and Brislington as well as Keynsham Pet & Garden Centre, Keynsham) fropm November and ask members of the public for donations of pet food.
Once we have collected the food we hold a pet food run on the Sunday after the charity night. This year we saw around 90 bikes (of various shapes and sizes) and 4 Parcelforce vans being escorted by the Police, leave the Downs and head off to Bristol Dogs home where we deposited two van loads of food for the animals.
Once refreshed with tea and coffee we departed for the RSPCA centre at Claverton , Bath. There we dropped off another two van loads of food and we were treated to soup & rolls, tea, coffee and mince pies. We had a whip round and raised approximately £150 for the centre.
A good time was had by all! Why not come and join us for our Charity Run next January.
